Building Certainty

I know the future is a scary place
With dark, shadowy plains
And damp, foggy marshland,
Where the weary traveler fears to tread,
For who knows what lies below...

I know this world is a scary place,
Full of lost and forlorn dreams,
That is never what you'd wish it was,
So you don't dare to live
For who knows what would happen if you did...

But we do...
We know
The future, the world
Is a wondrous place,
Where we've built so much
Between the walls of our hearts -
A home within us
Built of love for one another,
A place full of peace that we've invoked,
And beauty that we've put together
Stone by stone
And brick by brick.

I know we have
What it takes
To traverse this uncertain world,
Because I know,
When it comes to it,
I have you
And you have me.
